Quiero invitarles a una presentación este martes a las seis. Una de mis alumnas en Español 12 va a presentar sobre Pablo Neruda...en español. Por favor, vengan a escuchar su presentación. I would like to invite you to a presentation this Tuesday at 6:00 p.m via Elluminate. One of the Grade 12 students will be doing a presentation on Pablo Neruda in Spanish. I know some students are just beginners...don't worry if you don't understand. It's a good experience and we will accomodate your needs/questions at the end. Here is the link https://sas.elluminate.com/m.jnlp?sid=&password=M.6858E905D34E956F78FE316FEA558D I will check e-mails just prior to see if there are any problems accessing the site. Please let me know if you are able to attend. It would be great to have an audience for the presentatation. Some of you are creating PowerPoint projects that have either sound or video files in them. This is great. The only problem is that when you send it to me via e-mail and/or upload it, the audio files are not usually attached.
So here is one way you can do this. Download the Dropbox software to your computer. Save a copy of the PowerPoint presentation to a Dropbox folder then share the folder with me. To learn more about Dropbox, check out these youtube videos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4eTR7tci6A http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FSf8RQzqX2s To get download Dropbox go to: https://www.dropbox.com/referrals/NTc4Njg3NzY5?src=global I will be running Elluminate classes every Tuesday starting November 30th. Since I am not seeing many students at the language lab I thought it might be better to connect online :) I will open class at 6:00 p.m. I will post the lesson content a few days before the class.

All levels are welcome to come to the beginning of the class to introduce ourselves and learn a little about how to work within the online environment. The 2nd part of the class is designed mostly for beginners (Intro Spanish 11). Please RSVP me to let me know if you are planning to come. If you are not able to make it I will send you a recording. To access the online class go to: https://sas.elluminate.com/m.jnlp?sid=&password=M.6858E905D34E956F78FE316FEA558D Enter your first name and last name initial. You need to allow JAVA to load in order to use Elluminate. To learn more about Elluminate and to test your audio go to: http://www.learnnowbc.ca/lnbcresources/elluminate/default.aspx USB Headsets Do you have your USB headsets yet? Are you all doing the speaking portions of the program? Sometimes Rosetta Stone sets this at 100% even if you did not do this. Over time, we will be able to determine that something is inaccurate. So make sure you are using the correct USB headsets. Evaluation We use the Core Lessons for evaluation. Each grade has 6 units in total, each with 4 core lessons. This means that there are 24 lessons included in your grade. Each core lesson is therefore worth about 3%. You may re-do any core lessons you wish to get 100%. You can either re-do an entire core lesson or go back and do the parts of the lesson that you did not do correctly. You can determine this because along the bottom. Green means all correct. Orange means 1 or more incorrect. Core Lessons are the diamond shaped icon. The gray squares following the core lesson are additional activities to re-enforce the concepts presented in the core lesson. While we do not record your progress in these lessons IT IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED that you do all of them as future lessons will build on these concepts. The culture projects for Introductory Spanish are now posted. Let me know if you have any questions.
As we are just getting started with a new progran at COL, many adjustments are being made and, sometimes, kinks need to be ironed out. This will be the case for the short term, but we hope to be up to full speed by mid-October. For the time being, we encourage you to get familiar with the Rosetta Stone sofyware and learning system. You are free to work at your own pace so it is no problem for you to work ahead and keep going if you'd like. Keep in mind that you should be regulalry accessing Rosetta Stone (3-5 x per week for 20-40 minutes) Welcome to Spanish Online with Coquitlam Open Learning.
We started the course on September 14th, 2010. At this time, the Rosetta Stone portion of the course is ready to go. The other components will be added shortly. We appreciate your patience. |
